Fabrizio Romano claims Ralf Rangnick would want full control at Manchester United amid calls to sack Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Speaking on his YouTube channel (h/t The Express), Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Ralf Rangnick would want full power at Manchester United amid calls to sack Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The results have been devastating, and the performances have been awful. Solskjaer was expected to pull off a title challenge, but after 11 league games, it looks like it would be hard to finish in the Top 4.

United signed the best of the best in the summer by bringing in Cristiano Ronaldo, Raphael Varane, and Jadon Sancho. However, the latter duo are yet to settle into the squad and there is a dark cloud over Old Trafford.

Solskjaer could be facing the sack and one of the names to replace him is Ralf Rangnick. The former RB Leipzig manager and sporting director is currently a managing director at Russian outfit Lokomotiv Moscow. Journalist Fabrizio Romano has revealed that the German will join the Premier League only if he has full control.

“It’s not easy because he (Rangnick) wants the full power on everything. It’s not just the technical point, the system or these kinds of things. He wants to decide on everything at the club, and this is why Ralf Rangnick isn’t so easy for Manchester United.

“He’s appreciated by someone on the board, but he’s not one of the main options right now. From Rangnick there is the desire to manage with Manchester United, it is a dream for him. But, for now, there is nothing going on from United with Rangnick.”

This could complicate things because there is a clear hierarchy at the club. However, he is not the only man on the list of potential replacements to the Norwegian gaffer. Brendan Rodgers is thought to be the actual frontrunner, thanks to his stellar work at Leicester City.

Mauricio Pochettino and Zinedine are also labelled as options, but both are dark horses to take over the job. Regardless, these claims could vanish if Solskjaer gets his act together post the international break as United face crunch ties against Watford, Villarreal and Chelsea.
