With millions of fans around the world, Cristiano Ronaldo needs no introduction. He is probably not only the most well-known footballer in the world right now but also the most famous athlete as well. And how can he not be? At the age of 36, he continues to perform every single game and bring points to his team. Any true Manchester United fan was even happier this summer when the Portuguese legend made his long-awaited return to Old Trafford from Juventus.

If you are a fan of the Red Devils, you are currently enjoying the very best from Cristiano as he seems to score goal after goal in any competition he is playing. Any true fan of football is a fan of CR7 as well and might benefit to that would boost his football experience even more.

Cristiano Ronaldo and the Champions League – a true love story yet to be finished

It is no secret that Cristiano and the Champions League tournament have a very interesting bond. He is a spectacular goal scorer and he proved that in both England, Spain, Italy, and the Portuguese national team, but there is something even more special about CR7 when he enters the Champions League fixture.

If you take a look at the all-time goal scorers you will find out exactly how much of a decisive player Cristiano is. He is currently ranked 1st in the tournament’s history ranking with his 137 goals in 179 games. This gave him a ratio of 0.77 goals per game which is an amazing achievement on its own.

He made his CL debut in 2003, almost 20 years ago, and to this day he continues to impress. The only other player competing at his level is the Argentine magician Lionel Messi who has a slightly better goal-scoring ratio of 0.81 but has fewer overall goals in fewer overall matches – “only” 123 goals in 152 games.

Cristiano is a player determined to maintain his royalty status in the Champions League and will most likely do exactly that. He has scored 14 goals for Juventus, a 105 for Real Madrid, and 18 for the club of his heart – The Reds from Manchester. Will he be able to make his record with United greater than the one with Real Madrid? Probably not, but that doesn’t mean he is done scoring!

This season in the Champions League proves exactly those words! The overall performance of the club was somewhat poor and points were lost due to that. More could’ve been lost if it wasn’t for the Portugal legend. He managed to score in all of the opening 3 games of the tournament and 2 of his goals were a 90minute decisive factor to win a total of 6 points and 1st position in Group F.

How far can Ronaldo get this season? Well, he has competition this year with Sebastien Haller, Mo Salah, and Robert Lewandowski already leading the ranking with 6-5-5 goals. But they are sitting on the throne of the King and the King isn’t happy. Cristiano will go all-out this season to win the top goalscorer award for sure and reclaim his rightful throne!
