Xavi urges Barcelona to target Manchester United star Paul Pogba in the upcoming transfer window
According to El Nacional (h/t Teamtalk), Xavi has set his eyes on landing Manchester United star Paul Pogba in the upcoming transfer window for Barcelona.
The Nou Camp favourite is yet to officially take over the reins at the club. This has not stopped him from handing Barcelona a four-man list to target as potential recruits.
The Catalans are currently in a transitional phase and are looking to emerge from crisis both on and off the field. Having lost Lionel Messi, Antoine Griezmann, Junior Firpo and Emerson Royal in the last summer window, there is much work to be done.
After a horrible start to the season, Dutch manager Ronald Koeman was sacked by the Barcelona board. Now the Camp Nou wait for the homecoming of a legend as Xavi Hernandez is believed to be the front runner for the head manager position.
Barcelona mostly signed free agents in the last summer transfer window to form a competitive team without losing much money. Among the newcomers, only Memphis Depay has performed well in the Catalan jersey.
In the proposed four-person list, Xavi has included the name of Pogba, who is currently surviving the final year of his United contract.
Barcelona’s main advantage is the excellent relationship between Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola and club president Joan Laporta. It will not be the first time that the superagent has done Laporta a favour.
The 28-year-old is yet to pen fresh terms with United or even give a hint about his decision. There is a real possibility that United could lose him for a free next summer.

Depending on their current financial situation, the Catalan club would try to bring the player for free if they find a way to accommodate his wages. Barcelona is not alone in the Pogba race as their bitter rival Real Madrid are also interested in the midfielder.
