Borussia Dortmund chief Sebastian Kehl hands major transfer blow to Manchester United in the race to sign Jude Bellingham

Speaking to SPORT 1 (h/t The Metro), Borussia Dortmund chief Sebastian Kehl has insisted that Jude Bellingham will stay a Borussia Dortmund player amidst Manchester United transfer links.

The 18-year-old, who visited Carrington last year before deciding on his exit from Birmingham, chose Dortmund as his ideal destination, and it paid off. The youngster was sensational for the club last season as he helped them reach the Champions League quarter-final.

He has not dropped a beat this season, evidenced by his three goals and seven assists in 15 appearances across all competitions. The Englishman has also earned 8 caps for his national team in the process, including featuring for the Three Lions at the 2020 Euros this summer.

Although there has been interest from several clubs, including Man United, the German club have insisted their prized asset is going to stay at the Signal Iduna Park outfit. Dortmund’s to-be sporting director Sebastian Kehl told SPORT 1 (h/t The Metro):

‘He (Bellingham) is a Borussia Dortmund player, and he will remain a Borussia Dortmund player. There’s a lot of interest around Jude Bellingham, not only Liverpool. But there is no bottom line and no exit clause. He is loved here, he enjoys that. There are no signs he could leave Borussia Dortmund soon.

It’s good that there are rumours about our players, it shows that we are doing something right. We can offer a lot at Borussia Dortmund. We want to win titles, but we have to keep our players to do that.’

The Red Devils are well aware of the contract situation of Paul Pogba and the kind of hole he could leave in their side with his departure as a free agent at the end of this season. Moreover, Nemanja Matic will turn 34 next year, while his contract shall also expire in 2023. Thus, a move for Bellingham will be a clever coup.

However, with the Bundesliga club holding out for at least £101million and Liverpool’s keen interest in the player, only time will tell whether the Old Trafford outfit can lure another youngster out of Dortmund after signing Jadon Sancho this summer.
