Trent Alexander-Arnold explains how Liverpool will beat Manchester United on Sunday
Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com (h/t The Metro), Liverpool ace Trent Alexander-Arnold has claimed that their defence will be the foundation to their victory against Manchester United rather than their silky strikers.
The Merseyside outfit has been sensational this season and remain the only unbeaten team in the Premier League. Their forward line has been exceptional, however, their defence is not too far behind either as they conceded the third least goals this season (6).
Manchester United could, however, change that, given their attacking talent. The Red Devils have scored 16 goals in 8 games this season i.e., 2 goals per game. The likes of Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood, Paul Pogba, and Cristiano Ronaldo will be up for the showdown on Sunday, and they could cause real problems to the Reds.
However, Alexander Arnold has now revealed that Liverpool’s defence will be the reason they win the game on Sunday as they could cancel out United’s attack. The 23-year-old told Liverpoolfc.com (h/t The Metro):
‘I think, first and foremost, it’s having a good defensive structure. They have outstanding attacking talent that we need to kind of keep quiet. They’ve got big names, they’re a strong, attacking side on the back of a good comeback in midweek, so they’ll have a bit of confidence.
‘But I think our defensive shape will be the foundation for the result, for the performance. Get that right and then go and build with the ball and go and attack their weaknesses really. We’ll analyse where they’re weak, what we can do to get past them, around or over them.’

The Red Devils would certainly know the veracity of the game on the weekend as they would be well aware that a victory against the Merseyside club could not only take them into the Top 4 but also bring about a huge boost amongst the fans.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has not picked up a victory against Liverpool in the league yet and, thus, he will need to churn out an inspiring performance out of his side come Sunday.
