All eyes will be on Old Trafford when Manchester United are set to take on Liverpool in what promises to be a hotly contested clash at the Theatre of Dreams this weekend.

Both clubs are in the fray for the title but have experienced differing fortunes of late. United have been inconsistent while Jurgen Klopp’s side have more often than not smashed their opposition.

The Merseysiders arrive at the Theatre of Dreams following an impressive spell of away games where they have scored three or more goals. United will be on a high following their comeback win against Atalanta but do have issues to contend with on the injury front.

According to The Mirror, Raphael Varane is set to miss the clash following the injury he picked up while representing France during the International break. He is expected to be on the sidelines until November.

The Frenchman is joined by his international teammate Anthony Martial who is also nursing an issue. While the exact details are not known, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s comments hint at him not being ready to feature just yet.

United’s win over Atalanta did not come cheaply either. Both Marcus Rashford and Fred picked up issues and now face a race against time to feature against Liverpool.

The 23-year-old Englishman scored on the night against the Italians but also picked up a dead leg. He remains optimistic about featuring at the weekend and will hopefully be proven right.

Fred meanwhile limped off with a hamstring injury and could be set to miss out. With the Brazilian potentially out, it remains to be seen if Nemanja Matic will replace him in the first XI.
