Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hopes Marcus Rashford can return quickly from injury for Manchester United

Speaking after the game (h/t Manchester Evening News), Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed that Manchester United star Marcus Rashford should be ‘okay’ after he picked up an injury against Atalanta.

The 23-year-old has been instrumental to the club since recovering from his shoulder surgery a couple of weeks ago. Rashford made his return against Leicester City on the weekend and scored United’s 2nd goal on the day, although Leicester went on to win the game.

However, his contribution proved pivotal in mid-week as he scored the first goal of United’s comeback against Atalanta. Unfortunately, the youngster came off after just an hour’s play as he picked up an injury.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has now provided an update on the extent of the knock the English international suffered and whether he will be available for the weekend game. He told reporters after the game (h/t Manchester Evening News):

“I don’t know. I hope so, and I think so. It’s a dead leg. Sometimes that can take longer than what you want but if we treat it well, he should be okay.

“He’s worked really hard. His injury was, or [because of] the surgery, he couldn’t train with contact, but he’s been training physically, and now he’s physically robust. It’s about getting his football form back in. Marcus is a natural talent, but he wants to work on his game, and he has worked without contact allowed, and today he took us his goal really well.”

The Englishman has been a regular for the club over the last 2-3 years, and his direct play has often helped the club take the game to the opposition.

Hence, United would be hoping that the attacker is available for their upcoming games as they are set to feature against Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, and Man City in the Premier League in the next two weeks.
