Antonio Cassano believes Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo is not amongst the Top 5 players of all time
Speaking to Bobo TV (h/t Metro), former Italian ace Antonio Cassano has claimed that he believes Manchester United ace Cristiano Ronaldo is not amongst the Top 5 players of all time.
The Portuguese superstar has had yet another stellar year in football but failed to pick up a major trophy. However, while trophies are team efforts, the 36-year-old did pick up the Golden Boot in Serie A last season after scoring 29 goals.
The former Real Madrid man joined United this summer and has been amongst the goals again for the Red Devils. Thus, with the Ballon d’Or winner to be named soon, the player’s agent, Jorge Mendes, claimed that his client should win the accolade as his client is ‘the best player of all time’.
Antonio Cassano has now taken a dig at Mendes and has claimed that the centre-forward is not even in the Top 5 players of all time. Cassano told Bobo TV (h/t The Metro):
“CR7 is not even in the top five, Mendes is a good one, compliments, but if we are talking about absolute level, Cristiano Ronaldo has nothing to do with it.
“For me, he is not in the top 5. I would put [Lionel] Messi, [Diego] Maradona, Pele, [Johan] Cruyff. And then I’ll put Ronaldo, ‘Il Fenomeno’. Period. If we have to free someone, then [Marco] van Basten, as I don’t know [Alfredo] Di Stefano. Let’s not exaggerate.”

The Portuguese international has won the award five times and would be vying to win his sixth, which would put him level with his arch-rival and Paris Saint-Germain star Lionel Messi.
However, Ronaldo will try to prove his case week-in and week-out as he looks to turn around the fortunes of United and win them their first major trophy since 2017.
