Transfer News: Marcelo Brozovic linked to Manchester United as contract talks are at a halt with Inter Milan
According to the Italian news outlet Calciomercato (h/t Teamtalk), Marcelo Brozovic is being linked to Manchester United alongside multiple clubs across Europe. The contract negotiations with Inter Milan are not progressing and Brozovic could be looking for a move elsewhere.
The Seria A superstar was crucial to Inter’s rise to the top in recent years. He also played a major role in Antonio Conte’s journey to winning the league title. The midfielder was an important backbone of the team following his move from Dinamo Zagreb.
The Croatian wants to continue at his current club but feels that he should earn more for his contribution. The report also states that the Italian club offered him a contract worth £3.8 million. However, his father, who is also his agent, was not satisfied with the offer.
This is because Inter offered Hakan Calhanoglu £5million for his services as he moved from city rivals AC Milan. The 28-year-old might feel that he should be valued more for the time and effort he put in for the club. Nerazzurri’s financial situation could be responsible for the unprogressive contract talks.
Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, FC Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea are said to be United’s competitors in the transfer race. With Brozovic’s contract set to expire in the summer, the Italian club could be open to selling him in the January transfer window.
The Red Devils could be in for the Croatian midfielder as they were unable to sign Ruben Neves in the summer. However, with multiple interests, the English club may have it tough in getting his signature.
