Manchester United legend Gary Neville advises West Ham ace Declan Rice to sign for UCL club amidst transfer links

Speaking to Sky Sports (h/t Daily Mail), Manchester United legend Gary Neville has urged West Ham star Declan Rice to move to a Champions League club with a move to Old Trafford on the cards.

The 22-year-old has produced breath-taking midfield performances in the last couple of years and also established himself on the international stage with England at the Euros this summer.

However, after making over 150 appearances for the London outfit, it could be time for the midfielder to call it quits. Several clubs, including Manchester United, are interested in securing a deal for the Englishman. The Red Devils could have both Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic leave the club by the end of 2023, and bringing in reinforcements would be a clever move.

Gary Neville has further advised the youngster on how important it is to make a move to a Champions League club. The United legend told Sky Sports (h/t Daily Mail):

‘He’ll (Rice) have to transfer to a team in the Champions League. Where he plays in midfield. Where there’s high expectations. Where he’s playing against teams that are dropping deep every week, and there will be different asks.

‘A holding midfield player in a top team, he definitely could do it. If you look at Liverpool and Fabinho in the next couple of years. And Manchester United with Fred and Matic. McTominay might be there for a couple of years, but generally, there’s some jobs coming up.’

There was interest from a number of clubs for Rice earlier this summer, but West Ham’s £100million valuation of the player drove away most suitors. However, the midfielder will enter into the final two years of his current deal next summer.

With the English international already thought to have rejected two contract extension offers at the East London outfit, the Manchester-based club should look to pounce and secure a deal for him before other suitors can get a sniff.
