Jamie Redknapp believes Antonio Conte is holding out for the Manchester United job amidst Newcastle United links
Speaking to Sky Sports (h/t Daily Star) Jamie Redknapp has claimed that Antonio Conte is perhaps holding out for the Manchester United job and might snub Newcastle United because of it.
There has been a lot of jubilation at Newcastle in the last couple of weeks after the Saudi led consortium took over the club from Mike Ashley. The Toon Army now have the richest owners in the world with their net worth thought to be over £320billion.
Thus, changes are also set to be made, and Steve Bruce’s job could be on the line after the club’s poor start to the season. One name linked with the job is Antonio Conte, who has also been linked with the Manchester United job. The Italian manager has been successful with Juventus, Inter Milan, and Chelsea as he has led all three clubs to league success in the past decade.
However, Jamie Redknapp has now claimed that the 52-year-old might be keeping an eye on the United job, which would, thus, rule him out from a move to Newcastle. Redknapp told Sky Sports (h/t Daily Star):
“You need the right man managing the team, he’s still going to be the most important man, he sets the tempo, he sets good examples, to find a good manager right now, there’s mooted about Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard, Antonio Conte, Conte maybe has one eye on what’s going on at Man United.”

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has not enjoyed a good start to the season as his team is currently 6th on the Premier League table and their hopes in the UEFA Champions League also lie on their two upcoming fixtures against Atalanta.
Thus, with the pressure mounting on the Norwegian, it remains to be seen whether there is a change of management at Old Trafford, with Antonio Conte also said to be interested.
