Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher claims Gary Neville ‘makes excuses’ for Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer
Speaking to the ‘Tony Bellew is Angry’ podcast (h/t Daily Mail), Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has claimed that Gary Neville makes excuses for his former compatriot and Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The Norwegian is yet to lift some silverware with the Red Devils and will complete his three years on the job at the end of 2021. A lot of money has been ploughed into bringing in the likes of Harry Maguire, Aaron wan-Bissaka, Bruno Fernandes, Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane, and Cristiano Ronaldo over the last three seasons.
The results are yet to show, and there could be trouble for Solskjaer if he fails to win anything with the star-studded squad he possesses currently. However, Jamie Carragher believes that the 48-year-old is still at the job because his former teammates make excuses for him.
Carragher told the ‘Tony Bellew is Angry’ podcast (h/t Daily Mail):
‘I did a newspaper column on it – I was with Gary Neville a few days before and we did this YouTube chat about the season with Roy Keane. The two of them just make excuses for Ole because they played with him and he’s their mate.
‘They were saying, “They can’t win the league, they still lack this, they still lack that, the Glazers aren’t putting enough money in, they should be going for Harry Kane.’

United’s current form is not doing any favours for Solskjaer, and their upcoming fixture list could spell doomsday for the Norwegian if things do not go his way.
However, the former United ace has previously shown that he can churn out the results when his back is against the wall as he looks to win his first trophy with the Red Devils this season.
