Roy Keane has backed Jadon Sancho to do well at Manchester United despite ‘slow start’
Speaking to ITV (h/t Metro), Manchester United legend Roy Keane has backed Jadon Sancho to come through for the club despite a slow start to the season.
The ex-Manchester City academy prospect completed his £72.5million move from Borussia Dortmund to Old Trafford earlier this summer and has since been a part of the matchday squad.
Since making his debut for the club on the opening day of the season against Leeds United, Sancho has failed to contribute to a single goal in the famous red jersey. He has started a couple of games in the Premier League while he has also featured in the Champions League.
However, while his name has not made it onto the scoresheet yet, he has had encouraging performances in recent weeks. United legend Roy Keane believes that the youngster needs to be played more often as he might have been ‘overshadowed’ by Cristiano Ronaldo in the beginning. Keane told ITV (h/t The Metro):
‘It’s certainly been a slow start for him, but it’s one thing doing alright for Dortmund it’s a different animal going to Man United with different expectations. He’s been a bit overshadowed recently with Ronaldo coming in, but I’d always give the kid a chance. He’s only been there for a few months, give the kid a chance.’

The Englishman provided 64 assists and scored 50 goals in 137 appearances for Borussia Dortmund, indicating that he is certainly talented and has a lot of potential.
Thus, while he is yet to turn into that player at United, it could only be a matter of time before he provides the Manchester-based club with dividends on their massive summer investment.
