Gary Neville opens up on one major issue Cristiano Ronaldo is causing Solskjaer at Manchester United

According to Sky Sports, former Manchester United star Gary Neville believes Cristiano Ronaldo is not making life any easier for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The United boss is currently under pressure following a list of poor results. The Red Devils drew at the weekend against Everton and are now winless in their last two Premier League games.

Ronaldo started the game on the bench and was understandably frustrated at full time after United failed to secure all three points. His actions revealed there was no arguing that statement.

Neville believes Ronaldo’s decision to storm off the pitch at full time sends the wrong mesasge. The Portuguese star’s frustration will add more pressure onto Solskjaer who is already facing the heat after a string of poor results.

“Cristiano is smart enough to know actions like that will bring real pressure on the manager – more than he is already under.”

A winner, Ronaldo is a fierce competitor and is known to be unhappy if his side fails to win a game. The current United side is a pale shadow of the all conquering Untied side that he originally joined in 2003. The 36-year-old has every right to respond as he did but will do well to be sensistive of the reality that the club is facing.

Neville goes on to add that Ronaldo’s behaviour is something that needs to be adjusted in the next few months. The last thing we need is an unhappy dressing room.

I think that is something that has to be managed in the next couple of months.

While Neville believes Solskajer should have a word with the player, he may have also admitted that Ronaldo is not a player who can be led around. The 36-year-old is used to being the alpha but has to realise that he will need to be more aware of his surroundings.

“Cristiano is not a sheep.”

Ronaldo is one of the best players in the history of the game and could very well go on to scale even greater heights. While bringing in a winning mentality is important, he will do well not to make it all about himself. The veteran may be a one in a billion player but on the field, he is just one of eleven.
