Bayern Munich ace Leon Goretzka has revealed that he appreciates being linked to top clubs amidst Manchester United interest

Speaking to SportBild (h/t Sport Witness), Bayern Munich star Leon Goretzka has revealed that he is excited when other clubs notice him amidst Manchester United interest.

The Old Trafford outfit, who possess the likes of Paul Pogba, Bruno Fernandes, Donny van de Beek, Nemanja Matic, Scott McTominay, and Fred, could have added another midfielder to the ranks this summer.

The Red Devils were linked with several midfielders, including Bayern Munich star Leon Goretzka. The 26-year-old, who joined the German outfit back in 2017, has enjoyed a lot of success at the club, including winning the UEFA Champions League in 2020.

However, the German was in the final year of his contract and would have been available on a free transfer at the end of this season. However, the midfielder agreed an extension with the Bundesliga giants, courtesy of which he will remain a Bayern player until 2026.

Goretzka recently opened up about this situation and also clarified regarding links with Manchester United and Real Madrid. He told SportBild (h/t Sport Witness):

“It’s an exciting thing when other clubs recognise what you’ve done. I take a lot of time in my decisions when I need to make them. I weigh up everything. I talked a lot about it with Joshua (Kimmich). We actually had a vision from the start: Our work at Bayern is not finished yet, big things are still waiting for us. Hence the aim was to reach an agreement.”

While he did not confirm any links, he failed to deny any either. Thus, while the Red Devils might have been interested in the German, it remains to be seen whether a move was ever on the cards for the 26-year-old.
