Bruno Lage happy to have Ruben Neves at Wolves amid transfer links to Manchester United
As per The Irish Sun, Manchester United and Arsenal have been linked with a transfer move for midfielder Ruben Neves in recent months, who is one of the star players under Bruno Lage at Wolves.
The Red Devils failed to sign a central midfielder during the summer despite strengthening elsewhere. Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane, and Cristiano Ronaldo were three of the star arrivals during the window.
But despite the influx of star players, some United fans would feel the need to have another option in defensive midfield. As for the Wolves manager, he is glad that Neves is still at Molineux despite links elsewhere.
“This is life after the big teams come for this player. I live with the rumour he can leave but he stayed with us. In this way he took the best decision. Don’t go, stay and continue to improve with us and help us to be better. Let’s see what happens.”
Man Utd miss out on Neves?
Lage believes that keeping hold of their top players is something that he needs to do in order to build upon Nuno Espirito Santo’s foundations. Neves has shone at Wolves, especially under Santo, since his move back in 2017.
“The project is to take Wolves to the next step. From the club’s side we need to conquer our players to stay with us Not just with a contract and salary but more ambition to be better.”
United could do a lot worse than signing Neves if they are on the lookout for a midfielder. The 24-year-old Portugal international is a regular for club and country and has his best years still ahead of him.

But not getting in a midfielder in the summer should not be used as an excuse if the club falters this season. There have been significant improvements made to the squad and Solskjaer would know that the pressure is on to win his first trophy as a manager at Old Trafford.
