Transfer News: Manchester United face Liverpool battle for Erling Haaland
According to transfer news from 90min (h/t Express), Liverpool could be in the front seat to sign Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland who is a Manchester United target.
Erling Haaland is a global sensation in the world of football. The Norwegian striker chose Borussia Dortmund amongst a plethora of suitors throughout Europe back in January 2020. His rich vein of form has seen him score 65 goals in 65 games for the German club.
Manchester United have been pursuing the youngster for a long time now. They could face a stern test from fellow rivals Liverpool to sign the 21-year-old, as per the report.
Clubs will reportedly be able to sign a deal with the forward as long as they splurge £68million. Jurgen Klopp’s side spent cautiously in the latest transfer window as Ibrahima Konate was the only arrival at the club. It is understood that super-agent Mino Raiola wants to get the best deal for Erling Haaland and could initiate a bidding war amongst teams.
Current Man Utd manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer managed Haaland when he was playing in Molde. Despite the rapport between Ole and the young striker, Liverpool will do everything in their power to bring Haaland to Anfield. It is being suggested that the Reds are in a great position to rival the 20-time English champions, having already held talks with Raiola over a move.
