Manchester United are ready to accept a discount fee for Jesse Lingard in January

According to TEAMtalk (h/t Express), Manchester United are ready to let Jesse Lingard leave the club in January for a cut-price fee.

The Englishman has enjoyed an incredible week as he started off by scoring a brace and providing an assist for England in their World Cup qualifier against Andorra. The 28-year-old ended the week on Saturday by scoring against Newcastle United in the Old Trafford outfit’s 4-1 victory over the Geordies.

Although Lingard was brought on with less than 25 minutes remaining in the game, the attacking midfielder found a way in added time to find the back of the net on his 2nd Premier League appearance this season, with the 28-year-old also providing a cameo appearance against Southampton three weeks ago.

Thus, game-time has been hard to come by for the Englishman due to the array of forwards in the club’s ranks. United, who currently possess the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Anthony Martial, Jadon Sancho, Mason Greenwood, Edinson Cavani, and Marcus Rashford in their ranks, might not be able to guarantee a starting berth for Lingard.

The attacking midfielder was close to leaving the club in the summer, but a move failed to materialize. However, United are now ready to accept a fee in the range of £12million for the 28-year-old in January, although football director John Murtough will try to churn out at least £15million for the academy graduate, according to TEAMtalk (h/t Express).

West Ham United were trying to sign the player in the summer itself and have been touted to return for the 28-year-old’s signature back in the winter transfer window if there is a ‘willingness’ from all the concerned parties. However, with the Englishman in good form, there could be competition between several clubs come January to secure the winger’s services.
