“Something will happen”: Ex-PL defender tips Man United transfer target to leave current club in the near future

Manchester United target Declan Rice tipped to leave West Ham

According to Betting Odds (h/t Football.london), former West ham united defender Glen Johnson believes that Manchester United transfer target Declan Rice could leave the club very soon.

Rice has been a dependable resource for David Moyes and his team. The midfielder played an essential part in West ham securing European qualification last season. The youngster has also become an integral part of Gareth Southgate’s England squad.

Ex-West ham right-back Johnson, though, feels that Rice could move away from the club with growing interest from Manchester United and Chelsea. The 22-year-old has already showcased his talent in the Premier League. Glen Johnson went on record to speak about the young midfielder and highlight his future career prospects.

“It’s all about timing and how ambitious he wants to be. I think he is ambitious so I’m sure he won’t want to flirt around the middle of the table for the rest of his career. I’m sure something will happen soon, but I hope it doesn’t!”

Amid growing interest, the Hammers have put a £100million price tag to scare away other teams. Despite West Ham’s firm stance of wanting the player for the future, he reportedly rejected a new deal in the summer.

This has given rise to speculation that the England international is looking for a move away from the club. Manchester United needs a defensive-minded midfielder and are supposedly interested in the West Ham and England star.

Rice has been seen as a priority transfer for next summer and Ole Gunnar Solksjaer is keen on getting him to Old Trafford. Chelsea have also been courting the youngster for some time now.

For now, he will continue with the Hammers and hope to build his reputation further with another solid season. As to what the future holds beyond that, only time will tell.
