Manchester United fans react as Harry Maguire puts in a memorable performance for England vs Poland

Manchester United skipper Harry Maguire is a man who divides opinion among both the Red Devils faithful and rival fans.

The 28-year-old is, on his day, a world-class defender and for large parts of the match against Poland, he showed just that. Maguire helped hackle Robert Lewandowski, largely considered to be amongst the most prolific strikers in world football.

The Bayern Munich ace was limited to potshots and never quite got a sniff at the goal. The terrific rearguard performance coupled with Harry Kane’s brilliant strike looked to be enough to fetch England all three points.

The Pole, however, had the final laugh. He hoodwinked Maguire to make a cross in stoppage time that was headed in by Damian Szymanski, who towered over Luke Shaw. While it did take the sheen of Maguire’s performance, the United ace has enough reasons to be happy on the night.

Maguire was also involved in an altercation with Poland defender Kamil Glik that ultimately led to both players being shown a yellow card.

We now take a look at how fans reacted to the performance on Twitter.
