Transfer News: Manchester United have not given up on the chase of Declan Rice
According to ESPN, Manchester United are still eager to sign Declan Rice as the Red Devils target a defensive midfielder next summer.
The Old Trafford outfit, who already possess the likes of Paul Pogba, Fred, Scott McTominay, Nemanja Matic, Bruno Fernandes, and Donny van de Beek in their squad, are keen to add another defensive midfielder to the setup.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is said to be aware of the fans calling out the need for a defensive midfielder, but that was not the club’s plan at the start of the summer. The Manchester-based club were eyeing to sign a winger and a centre-back as primary deals.
The Red Devils added handsomely in those areas as they got in long-term target Jadon Sancho and four-time Champions League winner Raphael Varane from Real Madrid. The club also completed a sensational deal for Cristiano Ronaldo, who returned to the club after 12 years.
And, the next primary objective for United to fill is said to be a defensive midfielder, courtesy of which they are eyeing a deal for Declan Rice, although there are some more options in that area.
However, the 22-year-old is young, has a certain level of experience of playing in the Premier League. He started consistently for West Ham United last season as he helped them secure a 6th place finish.

The midfielder was valued at more than £80million this year, a number United hoping will come down as Rice will only have two years left on his deal next summer.
While there is no certainty if the Red Devils will sign the midfielder next summer, United fans would be pleased with the fact that the club has identified finding a player in that role as a priority.
