Transfer News: Manchester United could revisit Kieran Trippier interest in January

According to transfer news from Mundo Deportivo via Sport Witness (h/t Football 365), Manchester United are ready to make a move for Atletico Madrid full-back Kieran Trippier in the winter transfer window.

The Red Devils added handsomely to their squad this season in the centre-back and forward roles as they signed the likes of Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane, and Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Manchester-based club were also keen on signing Kieran Trippier this summer but failed with a last-ditch €21million bid for the 30-year-old, according to a tweet put out by Sport1 journalist Patrick Berger (h/t Football 365).

The Atletico Madrid star was also said to be open to a move back to England but the Spanish outfit wanted nearly £35million to let go of the player this summer.

Although the Old Trafford outfit failed to match that valuation and a subsequent move for the player, they have not left hope of signing the player this season as the Red Devils are ready to go back in January and sign the 30-year-old.

United have been keen on providing some competition to Aaron wan-Bissaka in the right-back role, courtesy of which Ole Gunnar Solskjaer kept Diogo Dalot at the club beyond the summer transfer window despite exit links.

The Portuguese was targeted by Borussia Dortmund in a deadline day deal in the summer transfer window, but a move did not materialize by the end of the window. The Red Devils have already sanctioned loans for Axel Tuanzebe, Ethan Laird, and Brandon Williams this summer, leaving them short in cover in the full-back role.

Trippier can add a lot of experience to this squad while he is already privy to the Premier League from his Tottenham days, however, it remains to be seen whether Atletico will sanction a mid-season move for their full-back.
