Manchester United not going to let Teden Mengi & Anthony Elanga leave the club on deadline day

According to the Manchester Evening News, Teden Mengi and Anthony Elanga are going to stay at Manchester United beyond the summer transfer deadline day.

There was a lot of speculation regarding the future of the two players in the past month, but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is going to keep the starlet duo at the club.

Mengi, who spent last season on loan to Derby County, had agreed to another loan move back to The Rams this summer, but the move failed to materialize. However, Mengi has been terrific for the Old Trafford outfit during the pre-season campaign as he started 3 games out of a possible four and partnered Axel Tuanzebe in the centre-back role.

Elanga had a great pre-season and he will stay at United

However, with Raphael Varane being added to United’s squad, Mengi could fall down the pecking order. While that is the case, there are a lot of games to be played this season and the youngster could be provided with the occasional game.

Elanga, on the other hand, broke into the first team towards the end of the 2020/21 season as he scored a goal against Wolverhampton Wanderers on the final day.

The Swede then joined the first team in pre-season training and, like Mengi, featured in 3 out of the 4 games for the club while he also scored against newly-promoted Brentford and Championship side QPR.

The 19-year-old will remain at the club this summer despite the fact that almost half of the Championship clubs have submitted offers for the youngster.

Derby County remains interested in taking Manchester United youngster Teden Mengi on loan this summer.
