Transfer News: Lautaro Martinez signs new Inter Milan contract amid Manchester United interest
According to transfer news from Italian source Gianluca Di Marzio (h/t Stadium Astro), Manchester United target Lautaro Martinez has agreed to sign a new contract at Inter Milan.
The Argentine striker has made a big name for himself in Serie A ever since his move from Racing Club three years ago. He formed a lethal partnership with Romelu Lukaku, and the duo led the club to their first Scudetto in 11 years last season.
The Belgian striker has joined Chelsea in a club-record deal earlier this summer, and Martinez was apparently another striker touted to follow in his footsteps and join a Premier League club.
There have been no shortage of suitors. Man United, Manchester City, and Tottenham Hotspur have all been linked with a move for the 24-year-old striker fondly called El Toro.

There was interest from Barcelona as well. But it seems that Martinez is set to stay at Inter for this season after agreeing to sign a new contract at the club.
United fans wouldn’t really be bothered by this, however. The entire club is still on the high of signing Cristiano Ronaldo who at 36, is still one of the best strikers on the planet.
With Edinson Cavani, Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, Mason Greenwood and the up-and-coming Anthony Elanga, Solskjaer should not be short of options to field up front. Martinez, however, would be a good signing for the long term.

Cavani and Ronaldo aren’t getting any younger and Martinez is at an age where he can still develop to become an even better player- offering several years of top quality service to whichever club he chooses to play for. Whether United go back in again for him in the future remains to be seen.
