Manchester United star Paul Pogba keen to top the assists tally in 2021/22

According to the club’s official site, Manchester United star Paul Pogba is keen to top the assists tally in the ongoing 2021/22 season.

This could be the clearest indicator yet that the 28-year-old is set to stay on at the club this summer. Pogba has started the season with a bang, making five assists in his first two Premier League games.

He currently tops the assist list and is three ahead of his nearest competitors. West Ham United duo Michail Antonio and Said Benrahma, Manchester City’s Gabriel Jesus, Brighton’s Pascal Gross and Liverpool star Mohamed Salah have all made two assists apiece so far.

Pogba is a game-winner on his day

Thankfully for United, Pogba is not resting on his laurels and is keen to keep his good run going. A fit and firing Pogba could prove to be the catalyst for the Red Devils to land silverware this season.

Rather than pick a favourite assist, Pogba is in fact hungry for more. He has stated in no uncertain terms as to his ambitions to create more for his teammates.

“Which assist means the most to me? The next one. The next one, hopefully.”

Pogba is a consistent performer for France

The Frenchman is aware that personal accolades mean little as long as it leaves the team trophyless. Pogba appears determined to ensure United do not fall short once again this season.

“It won’t mean anything without a trophy. I’m focused on that; I’m focused on giving my best on the pitch and hopefully I can get many more.”

Pogba had his best season in terms of assists in 2017/18 when he made 10 throughout the campaign. He has already reached half of the tally this time around, with plenty of games to spare. There would be little to stop him from reaching his target should he keep up the same numbers.

United take on Wolverhampton Wanderers this weekend at the Molineux. Pogba has his eye on the game and is targeting all three points.
