Brandon Williams has completed a loan move away from Manchester United

According to Sky Sports, Brandon Williams has completed a loan move from Manchester United to Norwich City after completing his medical earlier in the day.

The Red Devils will lose their academy graduate for the season as Williams looks to get some considerable first-team minutes under his belt.

The 20-year-old featured heavily for the Red Devils during the pre-season as he started the games against Championship sides Derby County, Queens Park Rangers, and newly promoted Brentford. Williams also featured in the club’s last pre-season game against Everton off the bench.

Since then, he has remained an unused substitute in the club’s season opener against Leeds United, while he was also unnamed in the matchday squad in yesterday’s game against Southampton.

The Englishman only managed 14 senior team appearances last season and managed a single assist during that period. However, this is a lot of progress given that he broke into the team in 2019 and has since been a part of United’s matchday squad on occasion. All in all, Williams has made 50 appearances for the Red Devils, and now a loan move could serve him well.

However, this could be a tiny issue for the Old Trafford outfit as Axel Tuanzebe has also left the club on a loan move to Aston Villa. This has left little to no cover for United in the full-back areas.

Diogo Dalot is only the fit full-back after the likes of Luke Shaw and Aaron wan-Bissaka as the club’s backup left-back in Alex Telles is out injured and might not feature this month.

Thus, while it will be a small issue, United would be able to cope with it, given that both Shaw and Wan-Bissaka are completely fit.
