Manchester United fans react as Southampton hold them to a 1-1 draw
Manchester United were far from their best as they were held to a 1-1- draw at St Marys by a defiant Southampton side.
The Red Devils were a far shade of the team that devastated Leeds United on opening day. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s teams have been known to put in Jekyll and Hyde performances and this was just one of them.
United started off well and had the lion’s share of possession and chances. However, they were brought back to earth when Adam Armstrong’s long-range strike took a deflection off Fred to sneak in past David de Gea.

Mason Greenwood brought United level in the second half but that was as good as it got for the Red Devils. In fact, they were lucky to get away with any points at all. Armstrong was presented with two golden opportunities to earn the Saints all three points but could not find a way past De Gea. Harry Maguire who was far from his best has the Spaniard to thank for saving his blushes.
Paul Pogba was once again among the assists and becomes the first player to register five assists in his first two Premier League games of the season.
Jadon Sancho came off the bench but never got going nor received the ball where he wanted it. In the end, it can be seen as two points dropped by a rather lacklustre United side.

It is an early blow in the charge for the title, but there are still 36 gameweeks to go and Raphael Varane is yet to feature in a United shirt.
We now take a look at how some fans reacted on Twitter to the news of United being held to a 1-1 draw.

Players ego got on the way, Bruno, Fred, wanted to referee the game, no respect for opponent, that is the price you pay for such an attitude. 2 points lost!!!

You can clearly see the lack of motivation from the players faces. What was that ? Such a disappointing game. And McGuire had almost cost us points. Players are ok, they just needs some pinch 🤏

Ole cost us this game. But since he won’t be sacked at least sign a good dm. So we wont have to shoehorn Pogba on the left.

Ole has no idea he thinks playing his favourite’s will win him the league when he has world class players on the bench unless he changes he will be sacked by Christmas

Was happy to give him a chance to prove me wrong, but as expected he didnt. The decisions made today are the final straw for me, I will still support the players and want the best for the team, but im done with Ole and his work experience job with United#MUFC

4 points out of 6, we had 3 at this stage last season.

Equalled Arsenal’s 27 game unbeaten away run.
Only positives from a game we really need to be winning if we want to win the Premier League.

Ole needs to be more brave. How can we have so many creative players and we struggle to create. Abysmal tactics and in game management.

Donny van de beek is being treated like a championship player. The coaching staff need to wake up 😡😡
United where embarrassing today. Will never win a title when you if you can’t beat teams like Southampton. We got lucky last year and supporters or not they played like they had already won. Slow, passing was non existent and couldn’t keep the ball. Terrible performance. Terrible
