Manchester United receive huge boost as Marcus Rashford speeds up recovery

According to The Sun, Marcus Rashford could be back on the pitch for Manchester United a lot sooner than most people expected him to be.

The 23-year-old underwent surgery two weeks ago and was scheduled to be out for 12 weeks while he was also not going to become available for selection until October. However, all that seems to have changed as the forward is recovering speedily.

Rashford could now become available by the end of September, which is a huge boost for both the player and the club. The English international is undergoing two rehab sessions a week, while it is also expected that the player could return to light training by the end of August.

Rashford could be back from injury sooner than expected

The striker has apparently worked really hard on his recovery process as it is understood that he conducted ‘water treadmill work, resistance work and squats to build up strength’.

The 23-year-old suffered the injury because he was playing through the pain for quite some time last season. Moreover, Rashford also neglected to go through the surgery earlier this summer as he wanted to represent his country at the Euros (h/t The Athletic) [Subscription Required].

Unfortunately for him, the Three Lions reached the final of the competition, only to go out on penalties, with Rashford missing one of the decisive kicks in the shootout.

The Englishman was an integral part of the United team that finished 2nd in the Premier League last season, while he also featured heavily for the club in their road to the UEFA Europa League final, which also ended in a loss on penalties.

The 23-year-old ended the season with 21 goals and 15 assists to his name – a feat he will only try improving upon once he is back from injury, which might not be very long.
