Paul Pogba has not ruled out possibility of new deal at Manchester United

According to Daily Mail (h/t The Mirror), Paul Pogba could sign a new contract at Manchester United amidst rumours linking the player with a move away from the club.

The 28-year-old has been linked with a move to PSG all summer but after the French outfit prioritized the signing of Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi, it seemed unlikely for them to also sign Pogba, especially since there was a difference in valuation between the two clubs.

Additionally, it was also understood that Pogba will run down his current contract at United leave the club on a free transfer as both Real Madrid and PSG were open to the idea of signing the midfielder for free next season.

However, things seemed to have taken a U-turn for the Frenchman, who is not against the idea of signing a new contract anymore. According to the Daily Mail (h/t The Mirror), Pogba is ‘optimistic’ about the direction United are headed, especially after the signings of Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane.

Pogba to stay?

The 28-year-old apparently had also ‘indicated his willingness to sign a new deal’ last year, but the Old Trafford outfit have only ‘recently accelerated their attempts to extend his contract’.

Pogba has been a professional throughout his uncertain future at the club as he reported to training on time and featured in the club’s last pre-season game as well. Moreover, even United would not want to let the player leave now, especially after he provided four incredible assists in the club’s 5-1 victory against Leeds United on Sunday.

Thus, the Frenchman, who joined United in 2016 for £89million, might just end up staying at Old Trafford beyond next season as well, should the club tie the player down to a new contract.
