Manchester United have been urged to sign Saul Niguez from Atletico Madrid this summer
According to Rio Ferdinand (h/t Daily Mail), Manchester United need to sign a central midfielder this summer with a move for Saul Niguez to be prioritized.
The former Manchester United centre-back talked about United’s need for a player in the centre of the pitch on his FIVE YouTube channel (h/t Daily Mail). He said:
“I think if the right player becomes available for the right price, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will go and get him. Saul Niguez would be a perfect fit, and his asking price was £160 million a couple of years ago, now it’s more like £40-50m.
“In today’s game that’s a decent price for someone like him who has Champions League experience. I’m a big fan of his. If you can get him in this window, I think you do it”.
The 26-year-old has been linked with a move away from the Spanish capital while the player is also willing to complete a move this summer.
While United have been interested in signing the player, Liverpool and Chelsea have also been linked with a move for the Spaniard, opening up several doors for the Atletico star.
Saul made 33 La Liga appearances for Atletico Madrid last season as he scored two goals and provided an assist, helping the club to their first league victory in more than half a decade.

United are facing an uphill battle of keeping Paul Pogba at the club beyond the current season, especially after the player refused a contract extension. Moreover, with PSG and Real Madrid circling around to sign the player on a free transfer next summer, United would be clever in signing a replacement as soon as possible.
The Spaniard is a terrific midfielder, and should United complete a move for the player before the end of the transfer window, the Old Trafford audience will have something exciting to look out for, for the rest of the season.
