David Moyes refuses to comment on his interest in securing Manchester United star Jesse Lingard
According to KUMB, West Ham United manager David Moyes has refused to make a comment on the club’s interest in Manchester United star Jesse Lingard.
The 28-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at the Hammers. His stint in the capital was an unqualified success with Lingard notching up goals and assists to lead West Ham to a sixth-placed finish. Lingard scored nine goals and made five assists, breathing new life into a team that can be described as average at best.
He clearly turned a number of heads and West Ham for their part were keen to keep him on permanently. The player however has since returned to United and is ready to fight for his place at the Theatre of Dreams.
Moyes is still maintaining slim hopes of luring the former loanee back to east London this season on a permanent basis. However, he is refusing to give anything away and is tight-lipped on the matter.
“You are talking about a Manchester United player not a West Ham player.”
The Scot took the diplomatic route claiming that he does not talk about other teams’ players. He did however confirm that efforts are being made to reinforce his squad this summer. With a few weeks still to go in the transfer window, who the Hammers will bring in remains to be seen.
“I never talk about players at other clubs but we are trying to add to the squad if we can. We have made and have other offers in for players.”
Lingard is a versatile player who can fill in a number of positions in attack. His presence at Untied will hand Ole Gunnar Solskajer strength in depth. But he is far from a first XI player at Olf Trafford and his loan spell in LOon don will have done little4 to change that.
The 28-year-old has the opportunity to not only become a regular starter with the Hammers but also a star player for the team. Whether he will eventually knuckle down and choose to move remains to be seen.
