Manchester United starlet Omari Forson pens new deal committing his future to Old Trafford
According to @utdreportacedemy on Twitter, Manchester United starlet Omari Forson has pledged his long term future to the club by penning a new contract.
The 17-year-old spent time with West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur before joining United in 2020. He is amongst the best young talents in the Red Devils set-up and has looked impressive in our reserve sides last season.
A number of young players have not just penned new deals in recent months but also made their first-team bows. As things stand, United under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is a welcome place to young talent. Forson committing his future to the club is certainly a positive appraisal of just that.
Forson made the step up to the under-23 level in May against Derby and made an instant impact. He was on the field for just 27 seconds before assisting Anthony Elanga. The young Swede has already made his first-team bow and hopefully we will soon watch the duo link up at the senior level.
He lasted 76 minutes that night against Derby County, going on to score and assist another goal each. It is fair to say that playing at a level above his age group has not flustered him one bit. A potentially special talent, he could be in for a successful career at the Theatre of Dreams, should he progress as expected.
While he was impressive for the Under-23s, Forson predominantly spent time with the club’s Under-18 side. He made 20 appearances in the Under-18 Premier League, scoring five times and assisting six more. (h/t Transfermarkt)
The 17-year-old also played for the side in the FA Youth Cup in the 19/20 campaign. He played all five games as the Red Devils made it to the semifinals. To be fair to him, he was on the pitch for just 36 minutes combined and had little to no time to make an impact. Better opportunities will come in the future and the onus will be on the youngster to take his opportunities. (h/t Transfermarkt)

There is still a long way to go and Forson will do well to take his time getting there. As long as he keeps working on his game, there will always be opportunities for him to get noticed at Old Trafford. Will he be the next youngster to break into the first team? Time will tell.
