Transfer News: Bayern Munich have joined the race to sign Manchester United target Erling Haaland

According to The Mirror, Bayern Munich have joined the hunt to secure the signing of Borussia Dortmund forward Erling Haaland amidst interest from Manchester United.

The Norwegian, who scored 41 goals in 41 games last season, has attracted interest from several clubs this season, including Premier League clubs like Chelsea and Manchester United. However, Haaland’s £150million price tag has made it next to impossible for any club to sign him this summer.

The 20-year-old will, however, be available for €75million next summer, due to a clause in his contract, courtesy of which, Bayern Munich have also joined the race to sign the player.

In an interview with Sport1 (h/t The Mirror), Bayern Munich sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic confirmed that the German giants are also interested in signing the Norwegian.

“This is a top player who the whole world probably wants. Of course, we are looking at him. Otherwise, we would be complete amateurs.”

With Chelsea ready to sign Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan this summer, Manchester United would have perceived that they stand in a good position to sign the forward next summer. However, Bayern Munich’s interest in the player is a blow for Manchester United, as the German giants have been successful previously in securing some of Dortmund’s best players.

Thus, while there is no certainty on who Haaland will join next summer, United will not be alone in the race to sign the forward.

The Red Devils have, however, completed great business this summer by signing Haaland’s former teammate Jadon Sancho for £73million, while they have also secured the signing of French international Raphael Varane from Real Madrid for £42million as United look to compete for the biggest titles this season.
