Transfer News: Manchester United ace Axel Tuanzebe set for Aston Villa loan
According to transfer news from The Athletic, Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe is set to rejoin Aston Villa on loan for the 2021/22 season.
A product of the Manchester United youth academy, Tuanzebe has had a stop-start career with the first-team due to injuries and competition for places within the team. The 23-year-old has previously spent eighteen months on loan at Villa Park, and played a role in their promotion back to the Premier League in 2018/19.
Back at Old Trafford in 2019, Tuanzebe has had to deal with a spate of injuries that limited his game-time. And his chances of playing regularly will take further hit this season with the Red Devils set to sign Raphael Varane imminently.
As a result, there was always the likelihood that he left the club this summer. And, Villa had shown an interest, in fact, to sign him on a permanent transfer, as per The Telegraph. However, it now seems like the Midlands’ outfit will be signing the 23-year-old defender on loan for the upcoming season.
While it is a move that will be beneficial for Tuanzebe, as he needs to be playing regularly at this age, what it means for his long-term future at Manchester United remains to be seen.
After all, the 23-year-old has entered the final year of his contract and the 20-time English champions could risk losing him on a free transfer in the summer next year.

There is always the possibility that Manchester United hand him an extension before loaning him out to Villa. But for now, it seems like the 23-year-old is on his way for a third temporary stint with the Villans.
