Atletico Madrid consider Kieran Trippier non-transferable amidst Manchester United transfer link
According to Marca (h/t The Mirror), Atletico Madrid are not considering selling Kieran Trippier during this summer transfer window amidst interest from Manchester United.
The Spanish outfit are relaxed over the future of the player despite the player being interested in a move back to England this summer. Atletico Madrid consider Trippier to be a ‘non-transferable’ player this summer. They also have no interest in negotiating any deal for the player below his €40million release clause.
Additionally, given that the player still has two years remaining on his contract, Atletico believe that they hold all the cards in their hands over a potential transfer this summer while the former Tottenham player is also said to be in Diego Simeone’s plans this season.
This would serve as a blow for Manchester United, who have been interested in adding some competition in the right-back slot for Aaron wan Bissaka and considered Kieran Trippier as an option this summer. Further, Trippier’s versatility was also something United were interested in as he could deputize as a full-back on either side of the defence. (h/t The Mirror)
Trippier to United?
Earlier this summer, Manchester United also had an opening bid of £10million for the player rejected by Atletico Madrid as the Spanish outfit remained keen on selling the player only if his release clause was activated.
Trippier, who won the La Liga with Atletico Madrid last season, also featured for England at the Euros as he helped his country reach the final of the competition, where they eventually bowed out to Italy.
