Transfer News: Manchester United set maximum price for Erling Haaland

According to transfer news from Express, Manchester United have set a maximum spending limit of £130million for Erling Haaland. Chelsea are said to be the leading side to pursue Haaland but United are also said to be in the chase for the Dortmund sensation.

Erling Haaland is a name that has done the rounds for United given the club tried to sign him from RB Salzburg in January 2020. He decided to join Borussia Dortmund in the end. The 21-year old has been ridiculously prolific since joining the German club.

United have been one of the most active sides in the transfer window so far. Two high-profile signings of Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane have been completed as the club look to end their wait for silverware. However, in signing the duo, United seem to have pretty much exhausted their funds for this window.

Nonetheless, interest remains in Haaland but for next season. That is when a £65m buy-out clause comes into effect, which will likely result in a host of clubs going after him. However, United has set a cap on how much they are willing to offer for him and they won’t exceed the £130million mark.

There’s not a lot left to say about Haaland that hasn’t already been spoken. The striker has ridiculous numbers for Dortmund and is clearly a superstar in the making. However, he is someone that United need next season. That price cap is probably a realistic one as United would be better off not spending more than that in this climate.
