Manchester United keeper Dean Henderson reveals full extent of injury
According to MEN, Manchester United keeper Dean Henderson revealed the true extent of his injury. The English shot-stopper had to miss out on the Euros. He is said to have kept playing with a hip injury towards the end of last season.
While it might be premature to say this, it is very likely that Dean Henderson is Manchester United’s first-choice keeper right now. The academy graduate ousted De Gea over the last season when the latter was on paternity leave. Some encouraging showings meant that he was the first choice for the rest of the season.
Henderson’s form was also noticed by Gareth Southgate as the player was called up to the Euros squad. However, he had to withdraw right towards the end, with Aaron Ramsdale replacing him. Currently, the keeper is back to fitness after missing out on the initial few friendlies.
Henderson played with injury last season
However, Henderson opened up on his injury and how he pushed through it to keep playing last season.
“Obviously I was devastated at the time, when I had to pull out of the squad. But I had an injury ongoing from the Burnley game last season (in April) and I was really struggling. I had a really bad left hip and I needed it to be addressed and I took a scan when I was away with England.
I tried to keep it quiet because obviously I wanted to be involved and not miss any games towards the end of last season, I just wanted to keep the momentum going. For me, it was something I needed to get sorted so having a break and getting my head right and then coming back in early and getting everything sorted so I’m ready for the season is something I’m looking forward to.”
