Manchester United starlet Charlie McCann close to signing for Rangers
According to Daily Record, Manchester United starlet Charlie McCann is poised to sign for Rangers. The 19-year-old midfielder has been of interest to Steven Gerrard for a while now. He still has a year to run on his deal at United and Rangers are expected to pay a fee to get him.
Signed from Coventry City in 2018, McCann has developed into one of the finer players at United at the youth level. A defensive midfielder, he can also play further forward and even as a winger. McCann spent two seasons with the U-18’s, making 41 appearances and scoring 12 goals.
Last season, he impressed for the U-23’s in the Premier League 2. He went on to make 17 appearances and scored four goals as well. However, the youngster is yet to make his senior debut for the side.
The Irishman’s exploits have not gone unnoticed as Steven Gerrard and Rangers have kept an eye on him. They are now interested in signing the teenage prospect. It will not be a free transfer though as the midfielder still has a year to go on his current deal.

McCann is close to joining Rangers and it will definitely be a loss that he will leave. Nonetheless, United cannot do much in this regard as the path to the first-team is relatively crowded. Even more established names like James Garner are yet to make their mark.
