Injury News: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer provides an update on Anthony Martial

According to injury news from Mirror, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has provided an update on Manchester United star Anthony Martial. The striker has been out since March after picking up a knee injury on international duty.

The Frenchman came into the 2020/21 season riding high on the wave of a spectacular 2019/20 season. He ended the season as United’s top scorer and was also voted the Manchester United Players’ Player of the Year (h/t official site). Yet, Martial’s consistency issues came to the fore again.

Martial was injured on international duty.

It proved to be a frustrating campaign for Martial, who scored just seven goals all season. He slowly lost out his starting spot to Edinson Cavani over the season. An injury sustained while on international duty in March ended his season prematurely and denied him a spot in France’s squad for the Euros.

As Manchester United gear up for the season, Martial is expected to return soon and manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer provided an encouraging update.

“Yes, there will be more players coming. Anthony Martial has also joined us, but he’s not joined the team training yet. He’s recovering from the knee injury and that looks good. The rest of them will drop in after their well-earned holidays because some of them needed them and they deserved them.”

While Solskjaer has always supported Martial, his form over the last season makes it hard to justify that. New players have arrived at the club and there is increased competition for places. Martial will need to hit the ground running real soon or he will fall behind.
