Transfer News: Newcastle pushing to sign Manchester United youngster Axel Tuanzebe

According to transfer news from Daily Mail, Newcastle are keeping tabs on Axel Tuanzebe. Manager Steve Bruce is keen on adding a new name to the side this season. While he is waiting for Joe Willock’s return, it is Tuanzebe who could become his first signing of the season.

The 23-year-old is a product of the United youth academy. It seems like it’s been ages since Tuanzebe made his bow for United but he hasn’t been able to carve out a regular spot for himself in the side. Tuanzebe had a couple of impressive loan stints away at Aston Villa.

Even when he has been fit, the form of first-choice defenders Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof has kept him out of the side. As his luck would have it, even when Lindelof was dropped, Bailly stepped in with some impressive showings. An impending deal for Raphael Varane could further push Tuanzebe down the pecking order.

However, he is likely to be offered a way out by a familiar face in Steve Bruce. The pair worked together during their spell at Villa. Now, at Newcastle, Bruce wants to bring in Tuanzebe, who could be his first signing of the season.

As talented as Tuanzebe is, there is a good chance he will not make the grade at United. United are likely to go into this season with Maguire and Varane as first-choice defenders. There will be Lindelof and Bailly to cover them, leaving Tuanzebe in the cold. If Newcastle arrive with an offer, it’s hard not to see the club sanction a move.
