Manchester United eyeing Atletico Madrid duo of Trippier and Saul

According to transfer news from Express, Manchester United want to sign the Atletico Madrid duo of Saul Niguez and Kieran Trippier. United are not done after agreeing on a deal for Raphael Varane as they will now turn their attention to the other Madrid club for reinforcements.

Manchester United are not wasting any time this season. They are getting their transfer business done early unlike last season. Tom Heaton and Jadon Sancho are done deals, while an agreement has been reached for Raphael Varane. It will not be a wrap as United will now look to the other side of Madrid for two more signings.

Trippier is a proven performer at the club and international level as well. He was a part of the Atletico side that won La Liga last season. Trippier also featured in five games for England in the recently concluded Euros and provided the assist for Shaw’s goal in the final.

Over the last few years, Saul Niguez has established himself as an important cog of Diego Simeone’s machinery at Atletico. However, despite Atletico lifting the La Liga title last season, Saul did not play a very big part in that. Now, Solskjaer is eyeing a right-back and midfielder. The duo of Saul and Trippier will cost them £45m and £34m respectively.

Provided United can successfully land these two from Atletico after the Varane deal, they will have a pretty decent squad. United’s wait for silverware might not continue as most areas of the side will be revamped. However, United will actually have to get these two and it is easier said than done.
