Manchester United fans react as Amad Diallo and Eric Bailly star in Ivory Coast vs Brazil

Manchester United had two of their players representing their country at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics when Amad Diallo and Eric Bailly lined up for Ivory Coast against Brazil.

The Ivorians took on A Selecao in their first-round Group D match and played out a 0-0 draw. The match saw both sides get a red card, as Douglas Luiz and Kouassi Eboue were both given the marching orders by referee Elfath Ismail.

This was Ivory Coast’s second game at the Olympics. They took on Saudi Arabia before this and won 2-1, with Amad Diallo bagging an assist. They will now take on Germany on Wednesday, 28th July.

As for Brazil, they have already beaten Germany 4-2 and face Saudi Arabia in their penultimate group match. Fred hasn’t been included in their squad as teams are allowed only three players above the age of 23.

The 28year-old midfielder was in Brazil’s Copa America squad and is now getting some much-needed rest. His team made the final before succumbing to Lionel Messi’s Argentine in the final.

Bailly and Diallo give Ivory Coast Olympics boost

United fans had all the more reasons to watch Ivory Coast take on Brazil on Sunday. Both Diallo and Bailly had started the game for the African country.

Bailly stayed on the pitch for the full 90 minutes to ensure a clean sheet for his team. His task was perhaps made easier by Luiz’s red card in the 13th minute. Ivory Coast had their man sent off 11 minutes from regulation time.

Diallo was brought off in the 63rd minute, but the duo’s performance had the United fans talking on Twitter. In a match lacking goals, the Red Devils duo impressed and made watching the match worthwhile for the Red Devils faithful.
