Transfer News: Manchester United consider inclduing Anthony Martial in Erling Haaland
According to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo (h/t The Express), Manchester United could include Anthony Martial in a deal for Erling Haaland in a bid to beat Chelsea.
The Norwegian striker is on the radar of both United and Chelsea, with the latter looking likely to land him in recent times after losing Olivier Giroud. But United would be wise if they include Martial in a deal for the Borussia Dortmund striker.
The Frenchman failed to nail down a regular spot in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s XI last season and was underwhelming in front of goal. That should encourage United to strengthen the attacking department.
And Haaland would be a top-quality addition to their side. Given his status and goal-scoring exploits in Europe, the 21-year-old would undoubtedly command a starting position in United’s team.

If that happens, Martial would go further down the pecking order. Hence, the club can sweeten the deal for Haaland and try to bring down any potential transfer fee by including their 25-year-old attacker.
Speaking in an interview with Stadium Astro (h/t Mirror) earlier this month, Haaland revealed that he was sad to see his attacking partner, Jadon Sancho, leave for the Red Devils.
“Me and Jadon understood each other very well and he’s a top player. So, of course, it’s sad that he goes but that’s how it is and that’s football. You never know what will happen. But I think that there’s a lot of other good players that I have a good tone with and it can become even better. We have to see who I match the best with [on who replaces Sancho at Dortmund].”

United fans would dream of a link-up between the two young attacking superstars. But United would know that signing Haaland wouldn’t be a walk in the park, especially given the Black and Yellow’s defiant stance.
