Manchester United target Leon Goretzka wants €20m per season
According to transfer news from Daily Star, Manchester United target Leon Goretzka wants a wage packet of €20m. That is said to be close to the highest earners at Bayern Munich but the club are only willing to offer €12m.
Leon Goretzka is a name that United are keeping tabs on in the event Pogba chooses to leave the club. The stocky midfielder is one of the best in his position in the Bundesliga for Bayern as well as for the national side. Bayern are facing a similar situation to what United are facing with Pogba.
The 26-year-old is also in the last year of his current deal. He is said to be asking for a sizable €20m-a-season wage packet which is way more than the €12m-a-year that Bayern are prepared to offer. United have been given a chance to sign him on a free transfer next season.
With Pogba’s future up in the air, United would want to keep replacements in hand. Losing a world-class option like him means that another similar option will need to be brought in. United will need someone to ease the burden on Fernandes in some way or the other.

Goretzka comes with a different skill set than Pogba. The German is a physical presence on the pitch, contributing to each area in equal measure. Provided Pogba leaves, United should try to push for Goretzka as he is reaching his prime years, which would help in replacing the Frenchman.
