Manchester United offering a higher salary for Leon Goretzka
According to transfer news from Christian Falk of BILD, Manchester United have offered a higher salary to Leon Goretzka. Now, the next round of the negotiations is likely to happen between Bayern and Goretzka. United’s offer seems to be higher than that of Bayern Munich’s.
If one were to look at the midfield options United have at their disposal, not many can be labelled as world-class. Apart from Bruno Fernandes and Pogba, the rest leave a lot to be desired. United have often felt that pinch when Pogba has been injured. Add to that his future is a subject of speculation, and that puts Fernandes in a tight situation.
Leon Goretzka is a name that United are keeping tabs on, in the event Pogba chooses to leave the club. The stocky midfielder is one of the best in his position in the Bundesliga for Bayern as well as for the national side. Bayern are facing a similar situation to what United are facing with Pogba.
The 26-year-old is also in the last year of his current deal. Bayern are said to be at an impasse over contract negotiation and that has not gone well with Goretzka’s representatives. The most recent update from Christian Falk is that United are offering a much higher wage packet than Bayern. The German club will now sit with further discussions with the player.

Goretzka comes with a different skill set to Pogba’s. The German is a physical presence on the pitch, contributing to each area in equal measure. If Pogba leaves, United should try to push for Goretzka as he is reaching his prime years.
