Transfer News: Solskjaer to take a final call on the Manchester United future of Diogo Dalot

According to transfer news from Sport Witness, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will take the final call on Diogo Dalot leaving Manchester United. AC Milan are keen on another loan deal with a permanent option. However, United and Solskjaer are yet to decide on his future.

The Portuguese full-back spent the 2020/21 campaign on loan at the San Siro, playing a part in Milan’s qualification for the UEFA Champions League. While he may not have been an automatic first-choice, he made 33 appearances for the Rossoneri, scoring twice and laying on three assists.

Dalot recently made his international bow as Portugal got eliminated from the Euros. Although, he has never been a surefire starter for United after the arrival of Aaron Wan-Bissaka in 2019. The English right-back is one of the best in his position defensively. He has also shown a marked improvement in his attacking efforts.

Now, Dalot is scheduled to return to United after his holidays post the Euros. AC Milan have shown considerable interest in bringing back the youngster on loan and perhaps hold an option for a permanent deal. However, Solskjaer will first evaluate the player in training and then only take a call over his future.

Dalot’s contract runs for two more years but the chances of him making it at United appear slim at best. Due to the duration of the remaining years, United still have some time to figure out what to do with him. He is unlikely to displace Wan-Bissaka but he does have talent. Sending him back to Milan on loan might not be a bad idea.
