Manchester United will go after Saul Niguez depending on Pogba’s future

According to transfer news from SportWitness, Manchester United will go after Saul Niguez depending on the future of Paul Pogba. United and Liverpool are among the clubs interested in the Atletico Madrid midfielder. However, United will only take a decision on this after Pogba’s future is sorted.

One of the brightest talents in Spain, Saul has come a long way since his developmental years. Over the last few years, he has established himself as an important cog of Diego Simeone’s machinery at Atletico. Despite Atletico lifting the La Liga title last season, Saul did not play a very big part in that.

Real Valladolid CF v Atletico de Madrid – La Liga Santander Saul Niguez of Atletico Madrid celebrates after winning the league championship after the La Liga Santander match between Real Valladolid CF and Atletico de Madrid at Estadio Municipal Jose Zorrilla on May 22, 2021 in Valladolid, Spain.

That has led to speculation over his future as the player has also asked to leave. United’s interest in Saul is not entirely new. They have been after the midfielder for a while now but his release clause was an issue. However, the situation is different now with the player wanting an exit.

Liverpool’s interest has been there followed by United. However, the latter will pursue Saul depending on the future of their star midfielder Paul Pogba. The Frenchman is in the last year of his deal and could have to be sold to avoid a free transfer next season. Atletico are also hoping that United push on their interest in Saul.

Manchester United could make use of Paul Pogba in their efforts to land Real Madrid ace Raphael Varane this summer.

It would not be too bad a prospect to replace Pogba with Saul in case the former leaves. Yes, they are different midfielders with different skill sets but they are world-class in their own regard. United will hope to sort out the Pogba situation sooner than later and then take a call on the move for Saul.
