Transfer News: Manchester United in no rush to complete Eduardo Camavinga deal
According to transfer news from The Athletic (subscription required), Manchester United are in no rush to complete a deal for Eduardo Camavinga. United have held ‘tentative’ talks with the player. Camavinga is also keen on a move to Spain.
Signing his first professional contract in 2018, Camavinga became the youngest player ever to do so with Rennes. He made his debut for the first-team in April 2019 against Angers and scored his first goal for the club against Lyon in December 2019. So far, Camavinga has made 82 appearances for Rennes, scoring twice and assisting five in the process (h/t Transfermarkt).
A natural central midfielder, the 18-year-old can also be used deeper in a defensive role. He also made his bow for France last year but was unlucky to miss out on a spot for the Euros. The problem for Rennes is that his contract ends in a year and they either have to sell him now or lose him for free in 2022.
No wonder he is a target for top European sides such as Manchester United. However, United don’t plan to rush into this deal. The club have held ‘tentative’ talks and are in ‘no rush’ (h/t The Athletic). There is also the factor of Camavinga preferring a move to Spain that needs to be taken into account.

While that might be a sensible approach. United are also bound by their purse strings. Players will need to be sold if any major names are to be signed after Sancho. Nonetheless, this will be one to watch given United’s apparent interest in the youngster.
