Manchester United fans react as Jose Mourinho makes unsolicited comment about his time at the club
Manchester United may have parted ways with Jose Mourinho but the Portuguese tactician never loses an opportunity to bring up the club when he can.
Sacked by Tottenham Hotspur earlier this year, he quickly came to an agreement to take over AS Roma. Speaking at his inauguration, he opened up on what he believes was a successful spell at Old Trafford.
“I won three trophies at Manchester United and that was seen as a disaster.”
The 58-year-old certainly started off well by winning both the League Cup and the Europa League in his first season at Old Trafford. While he also won the Community Shield that season, it is debatable as to how many consider it a major honour.
Mourinho believes he is judged on a different parameter and feels his success in England is rather undermined. He not only led United to ‘three’ trophies but also achieved a solid second-place finish, our highest finish then since the Sir Alex Ferguson era.
He also led Tottenham Hotspur to the League Cup final earlier this year. Mourinho was surprisingly and rather unfairly sacked a week before the final. It is fair to say that Daniel Levy played it dirty.
His time at United is however a mixed bag and the poor start to the 2018/29 season put the final nail in his coffin. Whatever be the reason, it just happens that the squad failed to perform to their ability on the field. No amount of subterfuge can hide that.
