According to FourFourTwo, Real Madrid want Manchester United to include Donny van de Beek in the deal for Raphael Varane this summer.

Now that Jadon Sancho is in the bag, the Red Devils have turned their attentions to landing Varane. The 28-year-old has just a year on his contract at Real Madrid and appears ready for a new challenge.

According to The Sun, Real are demanding £50m for Varane. United could lower the amount by offering Van de Beek in exchange. The change of scenery should help the Dutchman, who has struggled for game time since arriving at United last summer.

The 24-year-old arrived at United amid much fanfare last season. He was a consistent performer for Ajax Amsterdam and played a key role in their run to the UEFA Champions League semifinals in 2019. An exciting player, he has largely come off the bench at United.

According to the report, Real are keen on taking the Dutchman on loan for a season with the obligation to sign him a year later. United could be tempted to make use of the opportunity to rid themselves of the midfielder.

Real Madrid were linked with a move for the player last summer but lost out to United. A year on they may finally get their man. The potential deal could be a win-win for United who will not just rid themselves of the midfielder but also land the central defender they covet.

Adding Sancho and Varane in the same window would be a dream scenario.

With Paul Pogba’s future also uncertain, just what Van de Beek’s potential exit could signify is debatable. The Red Devils have been linked with moves for Eduardo Camavinga and Declan Rice in recent weeks.
